An old man's career goes flat, Snackbar moves to open deck

The thing with the walmart truck, I laugh when some folks claim walmart only hires the best..they did many many years ago but now they seem to hire anyone with a pulse anymore..see more and more like that over there..

 

Wal Mart is nothing more than a mega anymore. $90k for a 5 day work week. You can do that at lots of places without that slip seating BS.

In talking to a 20 year WM driver a few months ago who was hanging on for a few more years before retiring, he told me the DC’s used to boast about months even years without so much as a door ding. Now they have backing and slow speed parking lot incidents daily. I delivered enough of their sit over the years to know that WM is not a company or culture I’d ever want to be a part of and that was back when they were a six figure elite employer. I’ve pulled tanks for 10 years now and still gringe when I drive by one of those POS WM DC’s.

 

Took until 23:30 to get back rolling again. Goodyear tire service came out...and no extra signs or cones. He literally had to stand in the right lane to do the work. I stood way behind my truck with the brightest flashlight(s) I had and flagged traffic over while he worked. Made it to Spokane around 3:30 and tried to sleep, gonna have to split log to even make it there before dark...who knows if they'll take this load this afternoon or make me wait until Monday...right now, I DGAFF. According to the MT road reports, the 1st 40-50 miles after crossing Lookout is snow/ice covered, and this load is nowhere near the 35k lbs the load info claimed, so that'll be a skating rink adventure.

 

I hope you blasted the lights in the eyes of the jerkoffs that weren’t paying attention.

 

Unfortunately I only have some small usb rechargeable inspection lights and 1 3-AAA flashlight. I lost my good searchlight strength flashlight back when I was at Shaffer. That thing would have been a big help last night.

 

Well I’m laid up in a dirt lot just shout of Cheyenne. 25 closed due to a pretty bad blow over. Multiple ambulance were heading north when I was getting parked. The day started our beautiful, got up to 60 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.

As soon as I started heading north on Co-71 in Brush the temp dropped 15 degrees and the winds picked up to about 40 mph steady. Most of the time it was a struggle to get over 50 with this load.

Elk Mountain looks a lot more agreeable tomorrow anyway.

I did find what I believe @supersnackbar favorite Run at Crete, daycab Walmart dedicated out of Cheyenne. Poor fella almost made it home.

 

Idk about you, with being oversize, but he could easily cut over to 85. Might have to run back south a bit, but doable. Unless the wind is that bad.

 

I don't want flashbacks to wake me up

 

Customer is gonna unload me tonight. Coming across Snoqualmie was fine once I got fixed. A bunch of ice fog was about all I hit. Then a little slushy across the 1st 20-25 miles of Montana, then smooth sailing to Missoula. Sitting at the customer now waiting for a couple flatbeds to get loaded, then the forklift guy will find out which maintenance building I am unloading at. And I just spoke to dispatch, after empty, deadhead back to Arlington. And I'll be reloaded Monday. So I will have some miles to start off the month instead of sitting here waiting for Monday.

 

Creafer would have said....."can you still make the delivery, and then get it fixed?"
