Is that some kind of new strobe on the roof, or is it a new type of antenna for a TV receiver?

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Today will be the first back road adventure day of this 13' wide trip. After getting up early and working with the gang in Rancho to get this load tarped...with just the front covered with my center tarp... (@The Block Robert originally said just need the front to be tarped, but the local guys said it had to be fully covered, so they put 2 10' drop tarps on my trailer...I should've listened to the boss). Got thru Cali with no issues, then that's where my pilot car released me. Made it to Flagstaff yesterday afternoon and I stopped short at Little America so I could find a double sized parking spot before everything filled up. Woke up to 42° up here on the mountain. It has been interesting pulling a load that you can barely see around with those little extension mirrors without a chase car, but I have managed it without issue so far. But today I go up and around the scenic route from Gallup to Albuquerque...so fingers crossed I don't screw up my first real oversized load...yeah, I pulled that sawmill piece, but it was only 11'5" wide, and was all the way at the rear of the trailer so seeing around it was easier than this load. But I made it from Longbeach to Rancho, in moderate traffic, without creaming anyone, so I'll manage. I can only imagine what one of the 15-16' wide loads @kylefitzy pulls would be like...

@The Block Robert, I appreciate all the help from the guys yesterday! Did ya'll celebrate a little after you saw me pull out the gate finally? :occasion5::laughing-guffaw:

You will do just fine. Just watch your guardrails and be mindful of the curfew in ABQ.

You will being winging it before you know it! 4CEF3733-85ED-4EF0-8AB5-941653FE9142.jpeg

No celebration but there may have been a small BBQ yesterday after you left.

Made it to the consignee without incident Saturday afternoon and dropped the trailer in their secured lot for a Monday unload. While there are added inconveniences to doing OD loads like some 'WTF were they thinking' routing, I am addicted to OD hauling. I can see why @kylefitzy does this on a regular basis. It is gonna be so boring hauling a legal load now. On 2 lane roads I will be drifting away from oncomming traffic giving them room for no reason.

Speaking of 'WTF were they thinking' routing. I had one of those roads today. Instead of bringing me up US-54 out of Tucumcari they ran me over to NM-469 then up to US-54 (I am guessing that there is still a bunch of construction near the truckstops on US-54 by the interstate). NM-469 is REALLY narrow. So narrow that I was taking up a bunch of the other lane on some of it because they put deliniator poles right next to the pavement where culverts go under the road, and there was only a foot or so of shoulder between the white line and the edge of the pavement. But it was only 26 miles of that and the rest of Saturday's backroad adventure went without any drama. After my unload Monday, I'll be off to my next adventure...not sure what that will be, but it will be towards the house.

And @kylefitzy, to answer the question I asked you about the shower at the Wichita terminal, it seems to be operational unless they just didn't put an 'out of service' sign on it when it was down for repairs.

New mexico has some of the worst state highways in the country it seems like. I had a 12 wide going to farmington last year . I forget which state highway number it was but they routed me down there with 10ft wide lanes and no shoulder. The most bumpy , uneven pos road ive ever driven on.. Speed limit was 55 and i never could get it over 40mph. Getting thrown around the cab and trying to not cream any oncoming traffic.
