Managed to get in, loaded and out of the area before the Winter Storm Warning kicked in for northern IN. Managed to fit all the spools on the lower deck and the x-straps for the back frame juuuuust touch the shrink-wrap on the back spool if I wrap it around the back of the adjustment triangle...the shipper approved of it like that, but I put a piece of pipe insulation around it anyway. Super cool people. Because there was some snow move thru last night, they opted to load me inside, and I didn't complain. A little tricky getting loaded inside, but you can tell they've done it before. They have room to side load a couple reels from an isle between machinery, then they throw down a couple 2x4's and you ease up so they can put the next ones on. While they're loading, another guy grabs a 10' pipe and starts feeding chains thru the center hole so all the driver has to do is hook the chains and bind them down. Hit a little snow coming into Davenport IA so I shut down at the Peelot across from the Iowa-80.

Hit some snow on either side of Ft. Wayne on the way over to pick up my load this morning. Just enough to make hauling an empty trailer around interesting. All told, these spools of hose only weigh 16k...enough to feel there is something there, and maybe slightly more traction on winter roads...or more than I had hauling that KW.

I still can't get in the habit of changing duty status on this Samsara...I go to on duty, hit the precanned activity (load/unload/fuel etc.) and hit the 1st save, but forget there is a 2nd one befor it switches status. 7 days and I haven't broke it yet...there is hope!!!

Like a glove! Just a heads up, believe it or not those x straps will cut each other if they are not flat. I’m surprised there’s not a piece of hose around one of the 1” straps to stop that.

    Gold star for you! Haha.

I’m surprised more trailers with tarp systems don't have those straps. It makes everything more stable.

On today's episode of "I hate Samsara"...I hate how when I wake up every morning, this thing is in offline mode...meaning it cannot find my location when I try to change duty status. Maybe it's just how it talks to my Volvo, but I hate how every morning I have to physically start my truck for it to reconnect to the ecm in order to find my location automatically when I change status out of sleeper. I have the tablet's location always on and set to precise location...but it still relies on the truck for it's location.

And since I changed to this unit last Friday, and hadn't had the opportunity to do a 34 yet, it sees last Thursday as a 0 instead of getting back 5 last night. So, it thinks I only have 10.5 hours available instead of the 15.5 hours I actually have. But after today, it will be accurate, so that's just a observation not a rant or complaint..

If it makes you feel better, my Omnitracs that I had in my Peterbilt decided to switch off during the middle of the night most of the time. Usually I had to cycle the ignition or start the truck, sometimes multiple times before the #### thing would boot up, then wait another 5 minutes for it to do so before I could do anything with it

I was rebooting the tablet at first until I discovered that just starting the engine reconnected them. I never thought I would hear myself say this but, I miss the old Peoplenet I use to have!!!!

We’ve been switching over to Geotab and while I haven’t had any major issues with mine, other drivers have. There’s some things I like about it over the Omnitracs, and some I don’t. Regardless, when I was with Magnum, I think PeopleNet was the easiest one to use of the different ELD’s I’ve had experience with

I saw a certifiable crazy person this morning. Here in Walcott it is 0°, which is ''cussin'' cold. (When you open the door and that cold blast hits you, the spontaneous reaction is you saying "HOLY ####"). As I was trudging back to my truck from my morning shower, I saw a guy in Crocks, shorts and a t-shirt walking across in front of the fuel pumps. I know it was cold because my face was already half numb, my nose was sticking together every time I took a breath and everyone else around me was as bundled up as I was. This guy was *bleeping* nuts!!!
