For 7or 8 days, then he can legally no longer run paper logs as an otr driver. Turning a company caused form and manner violation into a driver caused not using eld ticket doesn’t seem like a good idea to me.

 

Are you only using the tablet in the truck or also using the app on your phone? They guy I’m running with is having problems with duty status changes “not sticking”, but he keeps trying to switch back and forth between the two.

 

Using an ELD that is recording incorrect information sounds even worse to me.

 

My company uses Samsara as well. The only issue I’ve ever had was a few years ago it wasn’t allowing me to split break. The solution was that I had to switch my phone to automatically adjust time zone for my location. Never had an issue since then.

395.34(d) Motor carrier requirements for repair, replacement, or service.

(1) If a motor carrier receives or discovers information concerning the malfunction of an ELD, the motor carrier must take actions to correct the malfunction of the ELD within 8 days of discovery of the condition or a driver's notification to the motor carrier, whichever occurs first.

(2) A motor carrier seeking to extend the period of time permitted for repair, replacement, or service of one or more ELDs shall notify the FMCSA Division Administrator for the Stateof the motor carrier's principal place of business within 5 days after a driver notifies the motor carrierunder paragraph (a)(1) of this section. Each request for an extension under this section must be signed by the motor carrier and must contain:
