My load has changed. Instead of loading a conestoga going to SC, I switched to a step and I am now picking up an engine from LAX going to south FL. More miles for me and closer to home(although I have to tarp it). Plus the load I had going to SC is gonna help to get a driver who lives in SC home for his hometime as well...works better all the way around.

Whomever programmed these Samsara units don't understand simple math. Here are my hours for last Wednesday
By my calculations that should be (if you round off) 8:58. Here is what the online portal shows for hours
6 minutes off. -
Yesterday's engine loading was a gongshow. Got to the shipper (who's warehouse is a crossdock for freight being flown in and borders the tarmac and hangers at LAX). 1st, almost none of my numbers matched theirs except the engine's serial number and the destination. My FM was off yesterday, so I call his backup (who is the planning supervisor). She said she would contact the salesman and figure it out. 2nd, the shipper had originally thought I was gonna have to go out to the hanger where they unloaded the engine to load it on my trailer, which requires an escort. Over an hour and a half later, still no word from Arlington or the shipper. Finally about 30 min later, the shipper said that they were bringing my engine thru the warehouse and would load my trailer in front of the building, so they had me back in front of a dock like a door slammer and wait. When he opened the door to the ramp, I was told to pull straight out and he would side load me(the street is under construction and has been ground down in preparation to be repaved, so he was trying to stay on the smooth dock pavement)... To stay on that smooth pavement, he had to side load from the driver's side...and tried to load my engine backwards. I had to stop him and have him turn it around. Then he positioned the engine in the trailer and before I could get my tarp rolled out so he could put it on the engine, he just left and shut the door, leaving me all by myself. When I started to get the tarp in position to get it up to the motor I realized that the last driver who had this trailer rolled the tarps inside out and backwards...so, I had to straighten that out before tarping. This whole time, not a peep from Arlington. I messaged them and said that they better hope that everything was right because the engine was on the trailer, secured and about to be tarped. She was surprised that nobody had called me yet, and would check. And I still never heard a word...by the time I got it tarped and ready to leave, it was now rush hour and it took me 2.5 hours just to get back to the Rancho yard(I decided to head there because I was tired, dirty and didn't feel like fighting for a parking spot at a truckstop)...the engine is just legal in width(with the vinyl engine bag and my tarp, it is slightly wider than the rubrail, but tarp bulge shouldn't be an issue with the DOT, I hope)...so, I am off to FL.

navypoppop, dwells40 and Lonesome Thank this.

I saw a comparison of a freeway in LA (can’t remember which one but it was near downtown) between the 60’s and now and nothing has been done to it. 4 lanes then, 4 lanes now. Coupled with the fact that LA isn’t exactly known for robust public transit. And people wonder why there’s so much traffic congestion

When you said LAX and picking up an engine, I figured you were in for an adventure. I like hauling engines, I hate picking them up at airports. Sometimes delivering them is even worse. Usually they send us in with an airway (air weigh?) bill, kinda like a bill of lading. A lot of times you will not get loaded or unloaded without one. -
I checked my Sam Sarah seems to know how to do math. All my numbers are right.
However, it did just randomly log me out yesterday going down the road, saying my session had expired and wouldn’t let me log back in until I stopped.
when I was in Canada at delivery, I did my departed Call and tried to scan my paperwork in, it would not let me saying that I had already started my next trip. so I sent my FM a text saying that you’d have to look at the trans flow, and I forward it to his email.
While I was waiting to cross the bridge back into the US, for ####s and giggles, I decided to check again and it let me send my paperwork in no problem. I’m starting to be on SSB’s side here, these things kind of suck.IH Truck Guy, dwells40, Lonesome and 4 others Thank this. -
I am hauling a PW 1133 (the shippers paperwork said it was a PW 4400, but the serial number matched the b/l Robert printed out so I didn't make them hold off on loading it.
Your Sam-crappa ought to let you go into past routes and add a document. Once we kick Transflo to the curb that'll be the only way we could add a trip sheet.(I'm not ambitious enough to fill any of it out by the time I get to the consignee.) -
not a big deal, I usually have everything done except for the ending mileage when I deliver. The few times I wait until the last minute, it seems like it’s a hassle on my
End.Lonesome Thanks this. -
I mean I like to scan everything by days end after I drop, but I don’t think I’d like having to complete my scans before I finalize the load.
