Wylie is running ads in KC for a yard dog/freight securer (sp?) in Spring Hill KS. I’m guessing that’s at the glass plant. I’ve only been there a few times and it was years ago dumping silica sand. At the time I thought it was mostly Maverick in there. I’ve never been accused of being very observant tho.

I used to be on the Maverick account in Spring Hill. We would mostly get Moore scraps. Moore was bought by Daseke and eventually rolled into and dissolved by Wylie.

2 of my favorite companies.................to hate and avoid

sounds like they haven't totally lost the AGC account then. I know the Moore guys use to do all the securement for our loads and Maverick drop trailers. I know right before the Wylie takeover, Maverick under bid us on a bunch of lanes. That was when they started making some drivers pull general freight back haul loads on certain customers. That was the beginning of the end of Moore.

I actually decided I didn't even want to get close to that God forsaken city...or as I see it - Satan's playhouse. When I pulled Homestake pass and only had to drop one full gear, I decided to take the scenic route thru the Reservation (US-212). Cutting those extra miles off going that way will only put me 40 miles over what they are paying me and I ended up going across 90. If I want to show off some, I could actually deliver this load by noon on Tuesday with a few hours to start towards my next adventurous destination.

That’s race to the bottom with rates is why glass hauling basically pays the same as pulling general flatbed freight. I really liked hauling glass, it just doesn’t pay.

have you ever picked up in west Chester Ohio? They are the same elevator customer as the one in texas. They even load the conestogas inside.

I made it back to Billings and swapped trailer to head back up to Alberta. No real rush, the load isn’t due until Thursday. My customs paperwork hasn’t even been started.

Believe it or not, I am only grossing a few thousand more per year here hauling general freight after the daily rate pay change than I was at Moore hauling only glass, and work way harder here.

I have picked up in W. Chester just once and it wasn't a pretty load. Plus I had an issue with my truck...the linkage for the exterior door handle popped off so I couldn't get in without leaving my window open.
