For many years, Creaffer ran OK plates on their trailers. They had a vacant terminal in Muskogee that had an address, so they registered their trailers out of OK when it used to be cheaper. I was behind a JB Hunt at the OK scales just a little bit ago...trailer has an Indiana tag. When I 1st started OTR, many many companies registered their trailers out of Maine and a lot of the lease company's trailers on the road still use Maine tags. Most of the leased tour buses that entertainers use are registered out of Montana...all about saving on taxes, no sense in giving up more of your hard earned money so the government can waste it.

I knew about Maine tags on trailers. Didn’t Schneider have all their equipment tagged in Illinois at one time?

Maine also allows you to register trailers in mass, some states limit how many can be registered at once.

My current company, Cross Country is base played out of Montana, corporate is in Bismarck. When I worked at Covenant wayyyyyyyyyy back when, my trucks were TN base plate with trailers having Oklahoma tags.

    XPO is plated with Indiana.

Made it all the way to the Flying J where US 69 crosses I-40 in Checotah, OK. 709 miles. Tomorrow my plan is to make it to either Waco, GA or Temple, GA which will put me within 6ish hours of the delivery for Tuesday. Not bad for a castrated Sweedish Dog.

Indiana must be cheaper now for plates. All our trailers used to be tagged out of OK but have been being tagged in IN for the past few years

Yes , much better than Waco. Temple has a good Mexican place and a country cooking place across street from the J and a Waffle House also lot of fast food places within walking distance. Waco has Subway at the Loves and that Loves is always a cluster. If you can't make it to Temple at exit19 I'd stop at exit 5 and stay at Newborns truckstop. Better than Waco and better food. Or exit 205 in Alabama, there's a Loves there ,it's always busy but better place than Waco.

Indiana will also print the company name/logo on the plate making stealing the plate much less likely
