Well my unload during the strike at Boeing was uneventful. I would say it was even possibly a bit faster than usual, didn’t even have time to get my chains put away before they were ready to unload. The place was already getting crowded with parts, if the strike goes on much longer they are going to have to get creative with storage.

The plan was for me to head to the yard, grab a step deck and live load my genie load. When I got empty my next dispatch was gone from my upcoming trips. I called the planer who was off last week and he told me he didn’t think I could get down to reload before the cutoff time. I asked if maybe he forgot to tell his temporary replacement that I only get preloads when I decide to grace Arlington with my presence. We both had a good laugh.

He sent a local to pickup my load and when I got to the shipper he was literally tightening the last strap. We went across the street and swapped gear and off I went.

Where I set now I’m 1447 from my first stop. Hopefully I can knock out almost 700 miles tomorrow and be sitting on their doorstep 30 min before they open on Friday. I have two drive off and two fork off lifts.

 

The blend door actuator maybe? If the compressor is running and charged sounds like there is warm air getting in from somewhere

 

the second winter that i lived up in northern Michigan, a huge ice storm rolled through right before New Year’s. We lost power for 5 days which was made worse by the fact that our water came from a well driven by electric pumps, so we had no water either. Thankfully we had a gas oven so we were somewhat warm. My car also conveniently decided to shred its fan belt on my way to work the first morning of the storm, and by the time i figured out what was wrong, all the parts stores had closed due to no power. So we had no car to go anywhere either

 

That's crazy! Reliability was always a huge issue for me when I was OTR. I had a 06 Mercury Grand Marquis that was a problem child. I would take it to the dealer and then pick it up 3 weeks later. It was such a hassle. The Ford dealer seemed pissed because they didn't have much room and didn't want to keep the vehicle that long. Car problems seem magnified when your on the road. Not something I wanted to deal with on my time off.
Sometimes it seems like it's pay me now or pay me later. I'd rather pay more for a reliable vehicle than get a "deal" and end up paying more for repairs in the long run.

 

They need to bring in the crews DeSantis uses in Florida. They get roads back open quickly

 

when I lived in northern Michigan I heated with a wood stove and cooked on it when using it. Lived right on the lake, if lost power and I water I boiled the water. It was a 1 bedroom cottage.

 

If the condensor fan isnt coming 9n it might be worth checking out the relay for it. Do you have A/C when at highway speeds? If it gets cooler than it is at idle that could be the problem. My 03 had that issue. Cool while driving but not at idle. I just refused to replace the fan. If you are driving city stop light to stop light it could be hard to tell.
