An old man's career goes flat, Snackbar moves to open deck

Generac is one of the least reliable, you were lucky. They're supposed to cycle monthly by themselves. But my son's place replaced all sorts of electronic stuff on those along with tons of warranty work on the engine itself. Honestly, as little as we use our small one, I couldn't see buying a whole house unit. If we were closer to the coast, maybe, but we're 90 miles inland, so long term power issues are rare. We lose power for an hour or two during the summer thunder storm season...but rarely is it off long enough to worry about anything going bad in the fridge or freezers. I would be just as well off getting a Tesla solar wall

 

I’ve a got a portable generator that I’ve used to keep my freezers running, a small window air conditioner going and other stuff as needed. Couldn’t run them all the same time but rotated them. Saved me thousands in food not spoiling

 

They're good to have. We live three miles from the county road and we're the only customer PG&E has out here. When the power goes out we're not exactly a high priority for them.
We have two of the Honda 2000 generators and they've never let us down. My son's house has two freezers and I have one in the house and one in the garage. We alternate the freezers a couple of hours each day and don't open them unless we have to.
Last year the power was out for over a week and we didn't lose any food at all.
We also have solar for the lights etc.

 

Headed home. 2 pickups in the Wichita area going to Crestview, Jacksonville and then Stuart. Tarp load, which makes no sense because there were many empty conestogas on the yard, and another SPD driver came in to live load with one while I was getting ready to tarp my load. But, it makes me more money to tarp, then untarp and retarp after the extra stops...I just take forever to do the initial tarping. Not sure how fast I can untarp and retarp, but at least the 1st stop has the most to unload, so retarping will be much easier.

 

You have already pulled more quickdraws then most new guys do their whole first year. If you’re not a dedicated, regional or local, the only way you get a quickdraws is if the load absolutely requires it. Like those skin carts.

SSB, I hope you're home already. Here in Winter Haven it's about to have all he'll break loose tonight. The eye is projected to pass right over here with Cat 1 winds and about 20" rain. Be safe everyone.

 

Very few people evacuated. Been watching Google traffic the last few days and all is green except the closed portions. Those in flood prone areas just moved a few miles to higher ground. There’s 1000’s of live videos on every social media platform currently. Looks like if you aren’t flooding or getting your roof torn off from the winds you’ll be okay.

 

Unfortunately I didn't get home yet. But fortunately, this sucker turned, and we're not gonna have much more than a breezy and wet couple of days, and not nearly as much rain as was forecasted 2 days ago.
