I’m a regional dedicated driver, hauling loads on my company’s contract with Georgia Pacific, and I do a lot of sitting. I’m paid on salary, so I’m fine with that. I do the occasional 650+ mile day once in a while, but I also have under 2k weeks, and I do a lot of live loads/unloads.

I've worked for a few reefer companies and always was paid hourly pay while sitting.
Take a nap, read a book, study, play on the computer, put pee bottles under the wheels of the trucks next to you.

Many company reefer drivers get paid for sitting.

Avg. reefer detention has got to be at least five hours.... I did around 15 hours at grocery DCs more than a few times; it's why I didn't do it long... You better not want home time more than a couple days every few months...

If money isn’t a huge concern, maybe look around locally and see who’s hiring in a daycab. I don’t know your area, but many fuel companies and others these days are offering 4 day workweeks.

I did mostly reefer, but mine was always long haul. Sure I hag some long wait times, but I needed to push hard for 3 days to get there. Average length of haul for all my OTR has to be over 1500 miles now. So if there are reefer companies that do a lot of short hauls then that would be ideal.
