Have had bad luck with Webasto and Espar hears. Friends have had bad luck as well with Webasto and Espar heaters. Any recommendations on brands from actual users with the Chinese versions?

Yeah the Chinese junk is far superior than the German offerings.

What kind of bad luck? People use them for years without problems besides cleaning once in a while

Alright, I'm calling BS here. What are the problems you are experiencing? They are a mechanical item and therefore need to be maintained. If you don't maintain them, that's on the user and things happen. If you think going to a Chinese knock off is your solution, by all means, have at it. Then report back and let us know how it works out. However, I can tell you that numerous videos have been made on YouTube comparing them. Alot of complete tear down videos that actually look at individual components and their construction. I would suggest that you look those up and become more informed. I have the new espar unit, the one with the automatic altitude adjustment and updated control unit. I've had zero problems. However, not saying things can't go wrong with them. Do some research.

I run mine full out once a week, change filter igniter every 2 years. I just replaced it this spring with a full new unit as it needed a burn pot and another tune up kit and I just figured after almost 9 years and 750k miles it was time. Most reliable unit. When I'm home in the winter I plug in my inverter/charger, close the curtains and leave it run so I dont have to remove any thing, left it that way for 6 weeks 3 years ago when I went to the DR for an extended vacation. Would love to hear what your problems were?

I clean the filter, start in summer like recommended, run only kerosene,, change igniters, and still throws codes and starts if and when it wants to.This has been an ongoing battle. I am done !! That's all of the explaining that I am going to do. So back to our regular broadcast - any brand recommendations from actual users of Chinese heaters ?

What is the cost to have 1 of the webasto or Espar heaters bought and installed? Thinking about putting some kind of bunk heater in my truck.
