I tried Cricket Wireless a few years back, but I didn’t last two months with them. It turns out that it’s not exactly the same At&t “coverage.” Lots of places had voice coverage—but only for calling 911!

You should know.
Verizon won’t let you block callers or texts.
AT&T does. -
I have Verizon and keep a signal booster running at all times in the truck.
I very rarely lose connection, except in extremely mountainous areas.
The only major US route I can clearly remember not having signal on is US 287 in Oklahoma. I am pretty sure I have lost signal approaching Liberal, Kansas from the North, but I cannot remember what road that is off the top of my head.PE_T Thanks this. -

Farmerbob1 and PE_T Thank this.

AT&T prepaid. Now if you want data it costs a little more but not by much.

Verizon & ATT
Verizon a little better coverage than ATT, but ATT would still serve you well.
I have Verizon, my partner has ATT. There are a few spots I get coverage that he doesn't, but not too many and not for very long.
A few spots we both can't get signal. Spots in Idaho, Utah, Montana, theres a spot in Missouri. Along I10 in AZ I lost signal for about 20 minutes. But otherwise coverage is fantastic.PE_T Thanks this. -
I just got a dual SIM phone and have Verizon unlimited on one and $100 ATT Gophone good for a year on the other. Best of both worlds.
