This a good idea but I don’t think they would be happy about it as I see from your comment I think you have saw someone doing this what was the outcome and what preventing them to terminate me instead of change me to dry can

The guys that did it while I was there got jobs and didn’t have to do flatbed. Some guys also just used an address of a hotel that was inside the hiring area for van.

I don't often chime in on these ones, but -

Read what @Ridgeline said, and do a little market industry news reading to get a feel for the way it is right now.

It's not a drivers market. If you have a gig that pays you enough right now, stay there. If you have a passion and desire to get into the industry, then get to searching. If you've got a manual restriction that cuts the field down. Hair follicle only the same. Only want a van driving job - lesser options.

There's some that have commented here that are going through the journey as rookies, and some here that are OLD hands. And employers too.

I started 20 years ago at 30 cpm. Reefer. And grateful for the opportunity.

Left 10 years ago a company job doubles/hazmat at 70 cpm.

Owned my own for the last 10 years.

It takes commitment, a clean nose, hard work, work ethic, and constant learning, but the result for top performers can be $100k plus annually at a company. $250k bring home as an owner in specialized.

You decide. And best of luck.

If noone has mentioned it you may try Tyson foods. They only do UA drug test and they do hire new grads

Thanks you so much I appreciate the words although 30 cpm was very good money compared to to 47cpm today but as you said it’s not a trucker market so if I don’t see any options I would go with flatbed no choice I do have a passion to do trucking cause I love traveling and adventures hopefully I get a dry van but other that I’ll take it and hit the road
