Well yeah ...They could, but were talking about DOT 99.9% of the time.Ive been inspected in Idaho and it became Apparent(they didnt even know how to read an Elog(pull up a graph etc."Are you running a log today". Me "Its on my smar t phone here...Them" Oh,Ok thats fine, you have pretty good brakes, your slack adjusters are in spec".Me : Thank you sir,for the Windshield sticker".LOL

Just remember it is an exception not the rule. If used multiple times, it will set up red flags for an auditor .
It used to be possible to "creep" and avoid going on drive line, especially with that ###### 14 hour clock, but the companies that make the QC elog have been tightening it to make it nearly impossible. I can usually squeeze in more miles per day depending on traffic, weather etc but that 14 hour clock is a PITA.
FMCSA has in the Mandate, Up to 5 mph... so at 5mph it will change, but it all depends on the Manufacture... Some allow you to change and some don't.. but as of the Mandate it will be locked down at 5mph..
No parameters for milage in the mandate but the ELDs pull milage from the ECM so once that number changes, I imagine it'd kick you into drive. So, one mile max?
What does it do if I unplug the wheel speed sensor..do my business...return to same spot...plug it back in ?
