I know this doesn't describe all chiropractors but last time I went to a chiropractor for a DOT physical renewal was in 2021 and that did not go well. The chiropractor had zero knowledge on Mental Health (and by extention unqualified to give mental health advice.) but yet made me jump through hoops because of ADHD, mainly sent me to get a $300 mental evaluation done, only to override the opinion of the mental health professional with his own.. pretty much wasting my time and effort. So I was forced to get a second opinion for that year.
That's also highlights the problem with FMCSA medical guidance at least when it comes to mental health.. it's so vague that it's impossible to know for sure what the guidance wants, it's just a giant gray area. That's my experience anyway so I can go to 10 different examiners and get 10 different answers.Last edited: Sep 5, 2024

Exactly. The average trucker is a lawyer, medical doctor, counselor, probably minister, and yet unfortunately none have made it to president yet which is a sign that the system isn’t completely broken.
Oops I forgot about Cornpop. I guess we are sunk.PaulMinternational and Oxbow Thank this. -
Justin Siefert who is the Chiropractor with an office at Iowa 80 does the DOT physicals and I bet does as many as anyone nationwide

I hate waiting at the med centers and it seems I get in and out much faster at the Chiropractors offices.
The one in pa is located right in the building at the truck stop. My guess is he does a lot of them. -
Personal opinion...most MD's are nothing more than legal drug dealers who treat symptoms. My previous doctor, who was also certified to give DOT physicals, had his medical education and medical license in Puerto Rico, which allowed him to get his license to practice in the states. I didn't go one single visit to his office when he didn't order blood work looking for something else to try to write a prescription for...he was the quack. Likewise is my wife's doctor, who has her on so many prescriptions her pill caddy looks like a pro fisherman's lure box...and she has worse health than I ever did...with every pill comes side effects, which requires another pill to treat. I am on 0 prescriptions. He said my sugar was borderline diabetic and was trying prescribe me on a pill. I told him I would handle it naturally, which he swore couldn't be done...within 6 months I had my blood sugar down to normal...naturally, not pharmaceutically. Now I only see a physician once in a while for something serious...like when I had 2 kidney stones (probably because I went from drinking tons of diet soda, which is high in sodium, to drinking tons of water), and one tried to pass and got lodged and required to be removed the hard way...the other only required to be ultrasound blasted, and I haven't had any since. My current DOT medical practitioner isn't a doctor, she is a PA...like it's been said, a DOT physical isn't an in depth diagnosis for a serious illness or disease, it's purpose is to determine if you are healthy enough to do this job without the risk of illness or a medical issue which could put the traveling public at risk, nothing more. They're not asking these people to split the atom or cure cancer, just to determine if this person is healthy and physically capable enough to do this job safely.
