I'll tell y'all what I've been doing, the last year or so, if anyone cares, where I make more money than I ever have and 100% easier, and actually cool. I became an entertainer coach driver. We drive those fancy Prevost buses you see rolling down the highway, with musicians/bands in them. We stay at fancy hotels every night, we don't get dirty, we have catering at venues for breakfast, lunch and dinner, we also get per diem sometimes, and the industry standard pay is close to $450 a day. That's $450 a day, whether you drive or not. From the moment our buses leave the yard, until we roll back into the yard after a tour, it's $450 a day. On travel days, when we are "deadheading" and don't have anyone on a bus, therefore are not given a hotel, we get an extra $100. Typically they only require a Class B with a passenger endorsement, but you all have Class As and would just need the passenger, if you don't have already. Most companies are still hiring as after covid a lot of the drivers left and got local jobs as the entertainment industry shut down. Anyway, I've never made this much money and I'm writing this from a downtown Boston hotel suite and am about to go get breakfast. The jobs and money are there, you just have to get your foot in the door. My .02

I've heard those ridiculous claims before and I'll never understand, especially coming from an oilfield driver. All the dangers associated with hauling crude, or sand for that matter up and down a road like 285 or 72 in South TX and you're worried about your seating position, lol? OK. Keep slinging hoses and waiting to load, unload, whatever and I'll stay clean, eating free, staying in luxury hotels and making up to 185k a year, while driving the smoothest riding $2 million bus on the road.

You find the right outfit they will accept you as long you have a dl, I personally think do research not all sand drivers paid the same. That's one many questions I'd ask how am I being paid? If it is 1099 forget about it had one offer me same pay no taxes taken out type thing and I ran away from said offer you ever get caught your be in a mess problems. I prefer water-hauling I will say if your young and strong back and gots some smarts and want more then driver pay get away from trucking in the oil field. Unfortunately, the back and many other issues prevented me but you can move up fast as a hand vs a driver yes having a cdl is a bonus but the guys making the most started at bottom most the time with only a few people came from college. My brother makes in the oilfield 300k yearly and he doesn't have a CDL anymore mostly he lost it due drinking but the lack of cdl didn't hold him back.

$2500 per week average
$3000 per week if you run like a mad man

Currently working at a mega (Not Swift) and got a sweet easy job working only 35-38 hours a week, dedicated line haul route, set schedule nightly run making $70k per year gross with full benefits.

I would hate to leave my current company as the work is easy, paychecks are steady and consistant and the company is good, but I need to make more money. I know if I leave this company I will have to work twice as hard as I am now.

So I have a few questions
#1 Am I being realistic to live in the truck assigned to me 24/7/365?
#2 I keep hearing of man camps and housing, can someone describe what these man camps are like?
#3 are the man camps like staying in a hotel room, will I have my own space and privacy? I am clueless about this.
#4 I hear many companies are like 3 weeks out one week off. Or something like that. I don't want home time or time off, I just wanna run hard for 1-2 years and pile up some cash while living out of the truck. Am I dreaming?
