Snackbar, next time something like that happens, call into Lincoln and ask to speak to the ops manager, they will usually help you get it worked out. Unfortunatley it does happen on night and weekend dispatch but its not an all the time ocurance. If you can't get your fm on Qualcomm then pick up the phone, if they sent there usually if someone is in the office they can help. If I get a load offer when I'm sleeping I just ignore it and ask again when I wake up, no one gets of mad, so no worries. Also let them know your shutting down for your ten and a pta, if they still send an offer in the middle of the night ignore it. Also remember this time of year its a skeleton crew and freight gets hectic, slows downs last minute stuff.
Just because crete advertises in truckstops and in the truckers magazines doesn't mean they are losing drivers, I been here 5 years now, lot of drivers even longer, even with thier problems I still would recomend them, the good does out weigh the bad.

It just depends on where your at, west coast right now is slow, majority of the truckstops on I 5 were empty at night . I did get a nice run out of Seattle area down to Georgia, although next weeks check will suck with only a 1200 mile run.

Yes they do advertise, but there are standards that eliminate a lot of drivers. One of the most impressive things (besides pay),that led me to Crete, was that as I spoke with Crete drivers, was the longevity of these drivers. They were not happy with where the industry has gone, nor particularly happy with the perks that had been rescinded, BUT they were still Crete drivers. Speaks volumes for me. Any vital organization, especially post baby boom knows they are going to have replace huge amounts of drivers. Recruiting new talent is vital to survival and economic growth. It is a tough economic environment and Crete Carrier, etal seems to be aggressively tackling this situation.
I cannot disagree more sternly. This is NOT a bottom feeder company

It's hard to give up 4 or 5 weeks of paid vacation per year. I think the newer drivers are realizing there is no need to stay out more than a week or two tops while still earning a decent living.

It comes down to 2 things. I don't stay for the quality of their equipment(difference between their new trucks and their old trucks is...who pays for the repairs), I don't stay for their organizational skills(I truely believe they couldn't plan their way out of a wet paper bag), I don't stay for their charming 'driver friendly' attitude...when they do actually answer(I won't even start down that path, I will have to plug in my Thunderbolt and the forum will have an entire page w/1 post), I don't stay because of all the respect we are shown out here on the road by other drivers.... It comes down to these 2 things. 1-pay, in all my years, I haven't found anywhere else where I can gross $60,000+ running legal w/o going into something like heavy haul/OD or specialized (ammo or hazmat). 2- Crete, with all my dislikes, has a firm foundation financially, so I know they're going to stay in business through the toughest economy downturns. Although these reasons are rapidly becoming insufficient to keep me much longer.1catfish and Motorhead01 Thank this.
