At what rate? Plus local drivers don't get to take advantage of the meal allowance deduction w/the IRS....I mean, if local driving is your thing, cool. But for me, it's not the type of driving I do, or as much as who I drive for that's the problem....but it's the overall lack of organization and competence that's getting to most of us here. We've seen that that can do it right, it's that they don't choose to do it right that is what's so frustrating. If I drove local, I would have to clear $65-$67k just to offset the difference of the meal allowance.(what the IRS allows me to deduct minus what I actually spend)...all for a type of driving I'd hate doing. I'm not trying to put down local drivers. With the wide variety of loads and customers out here it takes a variety of different types of drivers...Flatbeders love pulling flatbed but hate the thought of ever pulling a van or reefer, tankers like tanker-ing(if that's a word), double/triple drivers like what they do...just saying I'd be nuts in 6 months doing local after all these years OTR

Just went through orientation recently with Hunt. What a disaster!!!

I hope your time at Crete was OK.

There is no way I could work for any Acklie company. Their attorney's have turned that place into an undesirable company to work for....

So you didn't stay at Hunt?

The problem is also, many of the senior management are/were lawyers...not that all lawyers are bad, Mr. A Is/was a lawyer, and he did things right when he was running the show.

Wasn't trying to start a whizzing match worded it wrong i guess

I get paid by the load so I'd just assume drive a lot less miles but it is what it is

I miss otr from time to time and who knows one day I might be back out there but for now ill plug away and run my two 226 mile trips a day 5 days a week to I go insane or die one.. I just came off the road about a year ago after about 15 years of it

Currently sitting at home as an ex-Crete driver. I am not the kind of guy who can sit around 4or5 hours because of other peoples incompetance. Told them I needed more miles or it just wasnt going to work out. Trthe next morning after delivery I got sent into the shipping office for not one, not two, not three, but four loads that had already been picked up. This took four hours. Messaged back that I needed a load in 15 minutes. No answer after 20. Called up mngr. made arrangements go turn in truck, went and used my last flying j showers , ate at Dennys, and did final paperwork. Got back in truck qualcom beeps. Its a preplan for a 239 mile load that delivers the next afternoon.

Apologies to Ralph and Snacker. Thought you guys were whiners when I first started reading this thread then I am experiencing the same things.

I figured this last fime out I was losing out on the opportunity to drive15 to 20 hours a week but unable to because of the loads I was assigned or mistakes.

Glad I did it. Got fo confirm that we live in a great country filled with awesome people and the drivers are some of the besf.

Best of luck, I am getting the feeling there will be many drivers following you to the exit. I speak to very few drivers working here that are having any better experiences. It's hard to believe a company that was once one of the best places to work has gone into the toilet as fast as they have.

I don't know what I'm doing right, but my experience here is practically the exact opposite of the posts I've been reading. my miles are never under 10000/ month unless I have taken vacation. my average for all of last year was close to 2700/ week. At the end of April I am at 43700 for the year. I get my share of unproductive loads, but at the end of the month I'm almost never under 10000. I am usually only home for 3-4 days a month though. September will be 5 years that I have been here and my annual mileage has been at least 125000 every year since the first year which was 119000. Just saying it's not all doom and gloom here. I have been fortunate to stay out of the dreaded northeast for the majority of the last couple months, which helps.
    Hope things improve for everyone.
