Moore's safety department told us a similar story, only theirs was "if you get hit by someone, even if it's the other driver's fault, and get sued, the lawyer will call into question your logbook, and then will claim that had you done a proper pretrip, you would have used more time than you claim, so you wouldn't have been at that time and place where the accident occured. When you say you log it like you do it, they will have a truck and trailer available for you to do a sub-15 minute pretrip to prove it." I've been out here almost 30 years and have been hit by idiots more than once...and have never had to do a pretrip for a lawyer or DOT cop.
As far as doing pattern logging, it's always been an advisable statement from most safety departments not to log the same amount of time for the same work. Since Elogs came out, I've always varied my ON DUTY time some... especially now that they log everything to the second.

I almost always log the pretrip. Occasionally if I'm tight on time I'll just get going, but so rarely it's not an issue. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the regs say EITHER a pre trip or post trip has to be logged?
I log pre trip, fueling, and maybe check in at shipper/receiver as on duty. -

Finished my delivery in Dallas without issue and parked at customer. Next pu is just south of the Airport for a 9am live and a drop at North Platte. Then I have to rush over to Tyson and get that load down to a linage logistics facility in Houston before going home.
I'm beginning to think they think I live in thr Houston area. Last 2 hometimes have had me deadhead from Houston for a total of 200+ miles.
We have customers all down i35, and there is even a Walmart dc(dry) in my home city.
Just don't like deadheading from Houston cause if my return load is in Houston then that's ~400 miles of free driving plus I always have to decide to push through Houston traffic or park and wait till night to head home.
Reminds me too much of when I worked at the Houston Schneider tanker yard and would park there and drive all the way home every other week. -
I’m wondering if they just took up sections of I-65 and made it a dirt path, would it be smoother? I hit a pothole in the center lane just north of Nashville with the D/S steer that jerked the wheel right out of hands.
