I've been here over 10 years, and I don't ever remember then having a sign on bonus.

My company pays one of the best per mile rates (for a non-ltl or union company) and they still pay a sign on bonus.

Sign on bonuses are a sign of true desperation and as much as Crete advertises for driver, I’d think someone would have heard it mentioned somewhere. I hear two or three commercials for them daily on SXM radio and I’ve never heard a sign on bonus mentioned.

Semantics....transition pay, sign on bonus. Same thing. It's no different than upgrading equipment, the pay is starting to equalize in the whole industry as far as CPM, companies need something to attract new, qualified people as they grow.

As I get older, I am less interested in signing bonuses or higher cpm for every year of service...pay more of my health insurance premiums for me to keep me there.

I noticed Schneider has dropped it's sign on bonus for Northeast regional. It was $7,500 and now it's $6,500 they did offer me $10,000 for their jet set Walmart but I'm I'm currently getting .51 cpm and no slipseat so think I'm good for a while

I’m sure you’re doing much better in your current situation. That Jet Set sounds horrible, flying around the country, living out of a duffel bag, and slip seating. Plus sign on bonuses are taxed out the ying yang, like vacation pay.
