My biggest pet peeve with Crete.
We sit with an empty but if they don’t have freight WE don’t get paid but still need to man the truck. I don’t think unemployment would like that very much. They said I couldn’t leave the truck at the customers. That’s not fair.

It's an industry wide phenomenon....even in specialized. I'm with a glass hauling company and we are doing the same thing. Recruiting is being pressured to keep trucks filled even though the upper management is #####in because of all the layover pay they're shelling out becaue we're sitting so much.

When I was over there, the end of May and June were always my slowest times. I woud have a better January than June most years.

When I was at Crete, they had contracts with customers that stipulated they kept a certain percentage of seats filled to prove they had the resources to meet the peak freight demands.

As if Tonn gives a crapola if you spend your weekends sitting in a truck stop or rest area waiting for a call from dispatch.

I haven’t worked a weekend in 6 years. It’s amazing that anyone would drive OTR. When I did though I was pretty lucky, was never affected one iota by economic factors. Stayed loaded and fairly busy for the duration of my 10 or so day tours. They hired me to haul freight and haul freight I did.

New hire at .52cpm.... cost Crete less per mile..that senior driver at .59cpm....plus government gives Crete tax breaks..if they hire driver on unemployment, a minority or ex-military

    jethro712 Thanks this.
