I've never been asked that before. They just ask me "When can you start?" I've never had one probe what kind of notice you have to give. That's not their #### business.

“Do you leave a notice, Six?”
Beer distributor, local route driver. Manager was good. Worked a notice.
On my food service job, OTR route job, they lost some accounts and added on to my route while cutting the pay $500/week. No notice.
Reefer OTR, got to the FoodLionDC Lakeland FL Wednesday morning. Friday afternoon they tell me that they won’t get to me until Monday. Called my company and they said No detention. No notice. Owner called me that Monday angry about me not being in Florida. A month later, they called me asking me to come back.
First flatbed job, OTR, my mom caught cancer and needed help. Offered a notice, owner’s grandson was my dispatch told me not to worry, but if I ever wanted to come back to contact him.
2nd flatbed job, mega carrier, 8 yrs later. Wanted the week of Christmas off to go on a week long hunting trip. Stayed out 6 months. Friday before Christmas (Tuesday) I get a load that delivers on the 26th 1000 miles away from my home. What happened to my off time?
“Well, at least you will be home for Christmas.”
1000 mile run to deliver on the 26th…
Called my brother and he met me along the route with his pickup and I took their truck to my terminal. “What are you doing…you can’t just leave?”
Sorry, can’t talk, my taxi waiting to take me to the airport. Okay bye bye now.”
If your company is decent to you, be decent to them. But if they’re going to try to treat you like garbage, then you don’t reward bad behavior with good behavior.Gearjammin' Penguin, hope not dumb twucker, Lennythedriver and 3 others Thank this. -

About March or April 2020 I started working at a local flatbed company in my town doing regional dedicated. Worked there for a year and gave the boss about a week and a half notice more or less. He was cool with it. Every few months I go down to the restaurant to see him and the crew to tell stories : - )
tscottme, FloridaRetired and Wargames Thank this. -
Many said here that giving a notice depends on how good their employer is. Wrong. Giving a notice is a part of being professional and should have nothing to do with your feelings. You always want to end your job gracefully. Think what your next boss will think about you after he finds out that you quit your previous company with anger and animosity. Nobody is going to care about the reasons of why you left as much as how you left.
tscottme Thanks this.
