Too bad more of them don’t do that. A lot of places have refused to kick out the freeloaders because they were making threats against truck stop staff.

I had that happen at the pilot in Dalton. I called customer service and got a refund. Next time I had to park up in that area I went into the flying j in Resaca and they had plenty of spots open well into evening.

what I’ve been noticing is the “foreign” outfits seem to be the worst offenders.

The last thing I want to do is start a font fight. However, the main genesis of this comes from the mistaken belief drivers are immune from being bothered during their "Federally mandated 10-hour break." During my career, I have seen several examples of drivers catching trespassing charges and in some cases towing charges in the hundreds of $$$ as a result. About 10 years ago I called and spoke to a female at the FMCSA Southern Service Center about this. What she told me was a driver who is not parked properly if told to move should move as ordered by the police officer and/or the person that controls the property. Log the time and location and proceed under the same rules you would do if told to leave a shipper or receiver and you are out of hours. Get to the closest safe legal place to park and shut down.

I watched a driver in Ohio back in the 90s do this at a small convenience store. After the clerk asked him to leave the driver refused. The cops were called and he still refused to leave. Finally, they called for a tow truck. By the time the tow truck got in front of the truck, the driver started trying to leave. I watched that driver get a comcheck number and pay the tow driver.

Truck stops are private property and reserve the right to not serve your needs and indeed can order you to leave their property at any time for any reason.

The Mustard Seed in Sumner Washington will place a 5000 pound concrete deadman in front of your bumper if you don't pay for the parking spot.

Man wow, shot the driver then later offed himself. Seems alot of these guards at truck stops have been trigger happy. And can't seem to ever de-escalate. All loves use to have armed security,1 inside and 1 in the lot. There were multiple issues. But I believe it was when the driver was killed in Ohio that loves said no more guards. But I still see security at the one in Little Rock, AR and South Holland, IL
