All the books in the world can not prepare you for being a truck driver
Truck driving is a skill trade in which one must "experience" thru participation.
A CDL in your pocket does not make you any more of a Truck Driver
then reading the directions on a can of soup making you a Chef.

I'm in school in Ft Worth now through Drivers Solutions and we were told on our first day that we were the last class that E Gears was optional. From now on E Gears is required but they give you a copy of the Texas CDL manual on the first day of class and they go over all the test questions with you. You will be expected to start testing your second day here so it pays to know the stuff before you get here.

Tater, you have to crawl before you can walk, and since the CDL test is the first step, thats why I started the post. I agree fully, I learned more in one day with my trainer than I did the whole 3 weeks at C1. That knowledge is now 3 fold now that I am in my own truck. Unfortunately, that book is what gets your foot in the door.

:biggrin_2552:E-gears is worth it man, I recently graduated from C1 and didnt buy it before I got there. But it was free when I got there, it took me three days to actually use it but when I did i passed the air brakes the next day which was what I was missing. You go to test th second your'e there and really the only ones who passed was the first day was the ones who used e-gears. GOOD LUCK

Well, I took the class A CDL tests at the BMV today. Passed all 3 and got my permit. I feel that the egears was very helpful. We took pre-tests in the classroom at C1 and they were also helpful. Now that that hurdle is over it's onto pre-trip:biggrin_2554:.

I feel that e-gears was helpful, I also went to the DMV and got the book from them. they are very similer. e-gears was faster and easier. I did how ever find some glitches with e-gears. I dont know if anyone else noticed. I would get questions wrong that I know I picked right. Also I would get questions that said I did not answer. If you use e-gears you know that you cant skip or move forward with out answering a question. I did let my recrutor know and he informed e-gears. Did anyone else see this also. let me know.
