Yep i get the same feeling. It takes alot of judgement skills to run out west in the winter time. I think its the hardest thing as a trucker is knowing when to throw in the towel and call it quits when the roads are just to bad. Especially when ur dispatch or broker is sitting in someplace warm and doesnt completely understand what ur looking at.

Your best money company wise - will be LTL - ODFL in particular.

Boring after a while, but excellent pay and benefits.

For me it's just always been whatever i felt comfortable with. I've had to shutdown a few times. On level ground if i can't maintain 35 to 40 mph i usually start looking for a place to park. It as always just depends on circumstances. Sometimes you can actually make better time by stopping to let traffic clear up then takin off again.

any oversize, the challenge skill and concentration it takes is what i like.
anything else is too easy and boring. i lose interest in things very quick.

its hard to put money into the same conversation...

How does oversize and heavy haul pay for flatbed? I definitely know I don’t have the experience for the big leagues, but since I enjoy flatbed work if it pays well enough it’s something to look forward to

I’ve been as Far West as Denver once. Had 3 Large Cars fly past Me, leaving Me in a white out, about all I remember about the trip. My Dad was always shut down at Donners pass, it seems. There or Reno. I think he intentionally would get stuck in Reno, Lol.

Yea i wish our company had more drop an hook available away from home base. With that said ya always gotta be watchful for maintenance issues. Other drivers are always dropping trailers with stuff needing fixed since they either don't do proper inspections or they just don't care about the next guys lost time.

It gets into obscene amounts of money. They even pay you for your 10 hour break.
Iv'e always been enthralled with blade running. Found out about an O/O that does it. Just his trailer cost 1/4 Million. What he makes? He'll only laugh about it.
