Call Riverside Transport in KC. Lots of drop and hook. Direct store delivery. No touch. Target and Tractor Supply to name a couple.

Danny herman trucking has a terminal in lebanon missouri pay is maxed at 50cpm but most the runs are 1500+ there pretty lax on their hiring. Only reason i really left is a live over 8 hours from a terminal

If you are a month from being homeless I'd stay away from trucking till you get caught up on bills. Work two jobs if necessary. By the time you get through school and training starting out at a mega you'll be broke anyway. Hiring at any decent company is slow right now.

I kind of have to agree with @BM 58 the financial stress you’re under now will only be exasperated learning trucking, in the winter time none the less. I would completely encourage you to stay the course, but maybe get your finances in order prior to doing so. Hopefully this comment doesn’t come off as brash, but after 21 years of doing this, this is the last place I’d want to be while navigating that kind of stress, away from the ones you love and your support group.

I didn’t want to discourage him from trucking in the future but it will take at least six months to start making decent checks and he doesn’t have that much time. Kinda like these cats that do a truck fleese with six months experience and are bankrupt and homeless six months later.

I’ve already got my CDL-A and been through the training. I’m just waiting to go through training at a company. The whole reason I want to get into trucking is because I can’t find any job that I’m qualified for in my area. Nobody seems to want to hire an old man like me. I’ve got all kinds of experience in a lot of different areas, welding, forklift, HVAC, maintenance, electrical, plumbing, painting and such. It just seems like nobody wants to hire me. Over 60 job applications out and 1 call back to let me know they hired someone else. I’m tired of sitting around waiting to lose everything I own. We’ve already sold off about everything. I’ve even sold my wedding ring to pay bills. It’s all just material stuff.

I’m in agreement with this. It took a minute to start making money. Of course, that was 13 years ago and the training pay was different. 10cents a mile. Then $75 a day. But, I hear companies pay a sort of living wage nowadays. Gives folks a better chance, I suppose.

I used to work out of a suitcase as an AWS Certified Welder in construction all over the country. We worked 15 days out and 2-3 days home. So I’m used to being away from my family. I’ll just lay it all out. My total monthly bills are around $2,200. That’s everything. My wife and I live very modestly and don’t have extravagant things. We’re about as basic as humans can get. I think I’ve got a job with ACT out of Kansas City now. It’s a lot closer than Texas and pays a lot more too.
