I get grumpy if I have too many days in a row of going back on duty at exactly 10 hours off. Lol

there’s actually been a couple times where i’ve called my dispatcher and told him to find me a load because i was tired of sitting at home and doing nothing

I reckon my issue is that on March 13th, it’ll be 1 year of no work and can’t find a job. It’s not for a lack of trying either. I’ve put in literally hundreds of applications and called them multiple times to see if they filled the job or not. Several just blew me off and said the job wasn’t going to get filled due to lack of work or funding. Seems nobody wants to hire an old welder or forklift operator. This is exactly why I went to driving school and ended up here. :)

Knucklehead and 1951 ford Thank this.

You must live in a really dead area. I’m in the DFW area and if you can spell “plumber” or “welder” you can make $30-35 hr regardless of your age.

I live 15 miles away from Jefferson City, Mo. I was registered with Penmac and 2 other temp agencies and I haven’t had a call back yet. I’ve been calling them every week up until I went to truck driving school. They keep telling me that if they get something they will call me.

    Knucklehead Thanks this.

Stopped 45 minutes east of Louisville for a 30 and then swinging up to Indy then I-74 across IL. the weather has held so far without even flurries yet. Let’s hope it stays that way but i’ll bet donuts that it doesn’t

Well my prediction was fairly accurate. Got near Indianapolis and both the weather and roads started to go to hell. Looked on google maps and the whole west side of Indy is in rough shape. I have all of only 10k pounds in my trailer and already had to slow down some so I stopped at the J in Whiteland for the day and informed dispatch. I could probably continue on if i drove carefully but that comes with zero guarantee that others will. So to be safe rather than sorry i shut down here.
