Simple solution: don’t go there and not have to worry about it

When I was there in January of 2022 I made sure I didn’t forget anything I’d have to go back for.

Since I'm a company driver, maybe my company had it done in their shop and I never saw it. But I'm with you and @cdavis188, and not go there, but with an extra layer of protection by adding a wall...if they want to come over to the rest of the country they have to go thru a checkpoint and pay a fee.

Would be reciprocity for the check stations they have on every Interstate entrance to the PRC.

I’ve never heard anything about it. I’m sure we would have some sort of paper in our gigantic permit books. The ones that in my 10 years here I’ve shown three things. Cab card, ifta, and inspection. All the other stuff is just nonsense.

also #### California. ####ing hippy nonsense.

And yet companies keep packing freight out there. CARB has done nothing but drive the cost of vehicles up and cause more money to be spent on their compliance.

The freight going there needs to pay good otherwise I think it wouldn't be worth the expense. I'll relay with somebody tomorrow for now parked until they figure it out tomorrow they should have called me before I picked this #### up to tell me about it.

the requirement for testing only started towards the end of 2024. Trucks are registered in carbs system by the fleets or o/o that own them by bin and engine family. All of the retrofitted trucks have expired on eligiblity and only factory built trucks meeting the current standards are eligible- same with the refer guys who must get an arb number for each eligible trailer. The testing has been the difficult part to comply with - my truck is registered (a small annual fee) but needs to be tested. This is easier for the California based companies as they have many more options including buying the testing machine and becoming test certified. For me, I have to find a testing facility that I can get into some where in my regular region.

it is a lot of hoops to jump through, much like getting a 4axle tractor inspection report for multiaxle inspection report to get Overweight permits for those type of equipment.

Nothing threat is not achievable but requires time and effort. There should be a rate premium for compliance - but the amongst a large group of my peers is - F’M I will do what I want and hope I don’t get caught. Same as guys that bootleg quad axle trailer or rigid boosters into California driving down the rates.

Enforcement would be great and the only way to drive the rates to what they should be based on the existing laws.

go or don’t go to California, I don’t much care. However, knowingly breaking the laws and then #####ing about the consequences and unfairness is asinine.

Don’t like the laws in California- move there, vote and change the laws.

Rigid boosters are fine. It’s nitro boosters they don’t like. At least the way I understand it. I haven’t been to California since probably 2003.
