My guess is just temporarily disabled until there's a fix for the recall.

Friend, Modlite11 and Kolorado Thank this.

    Exactly.

Just had my APU disconnected last night. Piece of paper said Carrier doesn’t have a fix yet so all affected units will just be disconnected until a formal warranty/recall solution is in place.

Until then, we idle as needed.

While I do prefer running the engine, I’m not the one writing that check. Luckily it’s spring and shouldn’t need heat/air too much until Carrier rolls out their fix.

Hopefully it’s a fix the Shops can do internally and not have to run every Truck into a Carrier Dealer/Shop.

Apparently no one knows the words "quality control" anymore. Seems like everything is getting recalled left and right these days

no one has said a word to me about my APU and this recall, neither has anything been put out over a fleet message

Goody3635, Friend and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this.

They don’t. And even parts that shouldn’t be rebuilt seem to have a core charge these days. I replaced the window switch/mirror control piece in the driver door of the truck about a month ago and it had a $150 core charge so it can be “rebuilt” and sold again. And that’s why those switches only last about 2 years.

Leaving this morning even though I'd rather stay at home. But bills don't get paid if my truck doesn't move. Was doing my pre trip and noticed my coolant was a little low again. I'm not convinced they fixed it right and I don't entirely trust the APU since I found out that it may or may not catch on fire. So I flipped the shut off valves, turned the whole unit off, and will idle for the foreseeable future until I can get it to the shop to confirm the repair and make sure my truck won't burn down.

I used to hold these new Carrier Aspen units in rather high regard because they seemed to be a lot better made than the absolute dumpster fire it replaced, but due to the other truck i was in for 4 months, this ones recent developments, and now this recall, said opinion of them has crashed back down to earth

Ok… maybe your APU isn’t one of them under the recall?

A simple phone call is pretty quick and cheaper too if your unit isn’t impacted by the recall.
