Nine hours in, and they loaded it backwards. Have to wait for a door to get open so they can redo it.

Seriously, who the heck thinks a) that the state code NE means New England and b) that someone would send a truck from Indiana to New England and then back halfway across the country to Kansas City for 4 pallets.
Anyway going to try to get some sleep while waiting for the phone to ring.

i usually either go home with a load or drop in Topeka and go home with empty trailer.

I might see if I can stay out for longer. Something like out for 2.5 weeks and alternating between 3 and 4 days off. I never had a problem getting the needed miles when I did that on OTR. I'd still stick to SWR though. Shorter runs = a bit more per mile but more importantly I'd still be able to get by the house frequently. When I was OTR, it was fairly common that once I left out, I wouldn't see the state of Kansas again for 3-4 weeks, let alone Salina

that and I always seem a bit rushed when I'm home, even though I'm nominally getting a decent bit more hometime than I did while OTR

Picked up at broker load at the Jack Links plant in Underwood and im now at the Walmart DC in Menomonie to get it unloaded. They said they would have to do a pull and fax due to having almost 4k cases on the trailer.

Asked the clerk what a pull and fax was and it's basically what we do at a couple other DC's like the Sams Club in Loveland, CO where they pull the pallets out and just release the trailer then and there, vs having to wait for them to count all the product.

After I get my trailer back I'm to deadhead to Eau Claire for a load to Valley. Not picking up at Menards in Eau Claire, but a place called EC Grow that's basically right down the street from there

Finally escaped at 2 in the morning after just shy of eleven hours. First stop won’t take it until tomorrow so the plan is to get fairly close today then deliver both stops and get up to Fremont for service. Then I’m taking a Clayton load and going to the house. With how soft freight is and that this appointment was rescheduled once already my DM didn’t want to take the chance that they might not be able get me home on time if we tried to run a few more days.
