That’s the thing-in North Carolina the way I-85 is torn up it can literally be MILES between exits in construction zones, with very little or no shoulders to work with. The 5 hour delay with this incident was living proof of that.

Then why didn’t they chopper in the Donner Pass Ski Truck hero to have him cage the brakes and drive it out?

There’s some basic knowledge and tools you should carry as a driver.

    5 hours is ridiculous.

Blackshack46 and Kyle G. Thank this.

I just have to assume it was not possible to cage the brakes , for whatever reason. I’m guessing they had FEDEX mechanics on the scene that couldn’t do it right? I wouldn’t expect a FedEx P and D Driver that knows how to cage brakes .

You may be right. I will admit that i stupidly posted the picture without bothering to read the story, in an attempt to make a (somewhat dark) joke.

I almost deleted the post, but i will leave it because my post had nothing to do with the victim or the story behind the pic. I just “borrowed” the pic, which is easily accessible with a simple google search.

If the mods see fit to delete the post, i will not be offended.

    Edit: I edited the pic.

I would like to think that the new drivers are shown how to cage a brake, but I know better. They only train a driver eneough to pass the cdl test. Don't see too many 20 year drivers that can't cage a brake. Knowing how to do it can get you out of a jam in short order.
