On a (somewhat) more serious note....
Before you start running loads for FM, find out:
- How to use the "split sleeper" DOT clock feature -- you will very likely need it. Find out if FM coaches you on this....during their orientation.
- Also -- find out what their policy is for PC, or "personal conveyance". Do they even allow for it? If so -- what are the rules for its use there?
- What is their detention pay? It's likely something like "$15/hour....after the first 2 hours"....or similar.
- What fuel solution(s) do they use/allow? If it's only one brand of truckstop (e.g., Love's) this will likely produce problems, later.

But thanks for the helpful reply.
Now what is their backing test? -
Backing test?
If you can do a typical warehouse alley dock....in a pouring rain....then you should be fine.

Good luck buddy, hope the dogs like their new truck!

Your biggest issues/problems with FM are likely to be (or include):
- Pickups & deliveries that are all over the clock -- during both the days & nights. Thus -- you may well not get/have a regular sleep schedule. The split sleeper feature will help partly offset this problem. But catnaps are just that -- catnaps.
- Most docks/warehouses were built back when tractors & trailers were distinctly shorter (& the same is true for most/many truckstop parking areas). Thus -- your backing skills will be tested...especially in the beginning. Don't be shy about "GOAL"....getting out and looking....whenever in any doubt. It's much cheaper than the alternative....

Yes you will be going to a few tight loads for sure, especially in CA. There's one I used do regularly hated how there was a gate so close to the area, another where you picked up cakes, that you backed up inside a building into the dock. They will also pay for paid parking, I think its 1 time a week, maybe two you gotta have a receipt I saved those for west coast or east coast stuff. I will say when at docks for FM try get some sleep, average time at docks 6+ hours but you are paid after 2 hours but you have to put in the macro to say 2 hours happened, then it pays you. Sleep won't be all night or all day your sleep pattern will be all over. Also find a blue beacon or washout after every load, just in case, especially after a meat run and you get a lot those in Dodge City or liberal,KS those are gonna be major places you pickup loads from and your get produce on east or west coast. Some of the best runs I had, like 15 stops, 3400 miles 1 load.

Sleep patterns are the only thing; the company will try to push drive in inclement weather, even in a blizzard warning. I personally didn't want OTR I wanted home daily but unless I moved to OKC that wasn't gonna happen. And I'd sooner move to Florida, at least then would have some of the best fishing in the US, of course, then gotta deal with hurricanes, and every animal there trying to kill you, almost like America's version of outback in reverse weather patterns.
hope not dumb twucker, Lonwolv54 and Chinatown Thank this.
