Back when I worked for a mega-carrier, you never knew what the next trailer would be like. I had loose junction boxes and sometimes loose gladhands. I always had a small collection of little bungee cord, which could easily be tied around the pigtail head and held to the trailer. I'd always have about a dozen gladhand rubbers, too, and a wrench in case the gladhand flanges were bent. Not much on a trailer you cant fix with just a few tools...

This here is what he's looking for. I have them. I wouldn't do what I do without these. No more flickering or only one turn signal works.

I more often find the problem comes from dirty contacts. I carry a can of Caig DeOxit contact cleaner (CRC contact cleaner works, too). I spray the contacts in the socket on the trailer, and spray some inside the pigtail, too. Works every time.

Most of the newer trailers I have seen lately no longer have prongs, they have solid pins.

If you pull same trailer all the time.

plug saver workers, I had a 6 month old trailer that would flicker lights every right turn.
Shim wouldn’t help, they’d get dim, those stopped it.
