BennysPennys and Wasted Thyme Thank this. -
Contracts are made to be broken. If you have signed a contract for training and service for a stated length of time and you leave early, violating the contractual agreement you've signed, that is between you and the company that you have left. I'd venture to guess the company would not sign a reciprocal contract on your behalf with terms favorable to you.
They can only seek repayment of the costs stated in said contract through the appropriate legal channels in whichever state they are out of which may include garnishment of wages.
It has no legal rights to prohibit anyone from from hiring you unless somewhere in that contract you had signed gives them that no compete right..
And if so that is on them for not reading or having a legal representative go over the fine print.
Either way doesn't bode well for that company or others that have a no compete clause.
It's not like you have gleaned all of the company's secrets from them and could put them at a disadvantage in the competitive field of driver hiring and retention...lol
We do that here free! -
You did not put a time period on your statement like you should have and he boxed you in with proof that longer then 20 years ago Stevens did have in fact two trainees' training together without a trainer. What would be funny is if they were both trans, now try and say that real fast. You maybe should have said "currently Stevens does not..." and with good reason.
Personally, I do like Stevens they are local boys done well in the business here in Dallas.Boondock Thanks this. -
You would think the expose from 20/20 would’ve been more than enough warning!!loldrvrtech77, Boondock, Hammer166 and 1 other person Thank this.

LOL I'll give you the confusion. I thought it'd be clear with "does." Since it's present tense. I can't answer for the time before.
But you're right. Currently. They are great and do a good job of training and preparing new Drivers. I'm still planning on going back to work there after my cancer. Assuming I can. Won't know that until next month and my scan.
They don't pay terrific. But decent and treat you well. -
He’ s right, just because the lawsuit is 20 years old does not mean that they discontinued the practice. You’re pretty quick to make #### up to fit your narrative, did stevens teach that in your safety class?bumper Jack Thanks this.

Wow amazing that they want you to do what you promised.Boondock Thanks this.

A Stevens recruiter visited the school I used to get my CDL. He boasted about the shiny new KWs (this was 10 years ago) and how they would run 65 mph. He gave the rest of his pitch and asked for any questions.
As your God as my witness, one of my esteemed colleagues raised his hand and asked (and he was dead serious):
“Can you get a slower truck if you want? I don’t think I’d feel comfortable going 65.”
Never one to miss an opportunity, I quickly quipped before recruiter dude could get a word out:
“Got any applications on your person?” -
I couldn't find any expose on Ken Barr related to the show 20/20. What was the specifics of the story and are you sure of the origin? I'd love to track it down and publish it on another thread here.Boondock, Hammer166, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this.
