I know they do dry van and reefer. Im hoping someone who's worked for them can chime in and better inform you about Wilson Logistics.
How do you plan/prepare for this?

Most cross country runs you will drive during day and sleep at night. If you load truck at 8 am. You will spend maybe 3-5 hours getting loaded. You also will have already started your working day on log book/ELD. So once loaded you will start driving to Virginia beach. If you started working day at 8 am getting loaded, in Tacoma you will have to park by 10pm. 14 hour log limit. So you will basically keep that 8am to 10pm day going. Your delivery appointment in Virginia Beach would not be till something like 8am or 10am

Trucking is not a 9 to 5 job, especially OTR. Yes there are drivers that try to average 8.75 hours a day and run on recaps most of the time. But your company will dispatch you with loads that will require you to drive 10+ hours a day so that's what you have to do. There will be times when running at night is unavoidable. When you get with your trainer and start running loads you should pick up on this pretty quick.

When you drive a company truck and they are paying for everything. They will probably tell you what way to go. You can see sometimes is almost the same distance
It right at 3,000 miles so 3,000/550 or 600 miles a day. Would mean you need to 5 days to drive it. So dispatch could make delivery appointment on the 6 day basically any time. If the delivery is closed for the weekend or on Sunday they would make delivery appointment for Monday morning and you would now have extra time on the load. You might only need to drive 450 miles a day. You could still drive 600 miles a day and try to get parked near delivery by Saturday evening. Then take 34 hour rest on log book and deliver Monday morning ready to keep drive for the next weekbryan21384, Trucker61016, Lumper Humper and 2 others Thank this. -
I'd put 8 days to do it safely, not by these min max times.

If I were you, I’d reschedule the appointment so you have ample time to take a few days to see and experience Bismarck, ND. I hear it’s lovely there this time of year.
Let’s face it, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Believe me, your employer and the customer will understand.Last edited: Jul 8, 2021

you get out your Rand McNally truckers road atlas, and map out the most direct miles. even if it means toll roads.
then make slight adjustments (if you have to) along the way.
DO NOT depend on ANY GPS, read a map, and if you don't know how to read a map...LEARN.....Last edited: Jul 8, 2021

After you’ve been up all day on off duty loading, and drive all night, you’ll sleep fine the next day, pull the curtains and it’ll be dark in the cabbryan21384, Lumper Humper and Solo Soul Thank this.
