Isn’t leasing always a bad idea? Do they even let people with no experience lease?

The religious discussions and bickering need to stop. This thread has had a pretty decent discussion and I've only had to clean up a small amount of posts. Let's remain civil for the remainder of the thread.

It was kinda my choice, I was doing my training in Jacksonville and I live in Port Saint Lucie, 3 and a half hours away, so they asked me if I wanted a trainer that live in Jacksonville, they'll put me in a hotel and I could be off on the weekends, if not, it might take longer to find me a trainer that in my area, so I did it to get my training over with.

Some companies require you to lease from day one.
It is usually a bad idea, but some people make it work.

    Some companies? Like who?

No company 'requires' you to assume financial responsibility for $200k of equipment , unless you're foolish enough to sign on the dotted line.

Leashing is a really bad idea for a new driver, and I don’t know of any companies that will lease a truck without experience. The lowest I’ve seen is super ego at 4 months. Some people are successful with leasing but it’s not easy. Im not interested in a lease with the current freight rates. Most leases are going to run around $1000 a week, whether you work or not. Diesel is gonna cost you about $6000 a month. New tires can be over $1000 a pop per tire. A tow bill can easily go over $1000. Repairs can sometimes take days or weeks. It’s a really tough business you have to know your ####. You’d need like 20 grand cash minimum to get started and I’d definitely recommend more.
