Curious question how much paperwork is involved with being a leased on o/o? I know with your own authority everything is on you, but as a leased owner operator is there less back office stuff to take care of? Basically is it worth hiring a business company that can just handle the business part of the company or is it pretty straightforward to figure out on your own?

    Depends.
Some companies contracts are 30-50 pages long.
Leased on, the company pays you.

Your company, you send the invoices.
They pay your company, your company pays you, if they don’t, you get to go get your money.

There are companies that you “sell” your invoices and they take 2.5-3 %
But they’ll pay you then collect the money from the loads.

Depends on the company you lease on to. Some don't keep up with any of it and it's on you. Some track it and pay it without charging you. Some pay it and charge you back.

Mine is quite simple, they track ifta, I pay or get credit depending on where I buy fuel.
They take care of all legalization, if I check online and open all mail from company I’m covered.
I fill out a maintenance report every 4 months(dot required), they send me a Comdata summary every week with all activity and fuel summary.
Your job to keep track of your business expenses, and I get paid every Tuesday even if they never collect.

    What he said.

I hire a CPA for year end taxes, all receipts are handled and filed away so the CPA is a quick, cheap visit.

Thanks you all. I do have a great account/tax lady that handles a bunch of truckers so I’m covered on that end
