    Yeah - we should.

With all the complaints of lack of professionalism in the industry, you have to start somewhere.

The guy in the mirror is a good start.

Not addressed as yet - but,

Simply asking this question shows you have what too many lack, for whatever reason -

    A conscience.

Just tell them the truth man. Who cares you didn't want the job, they don't care. They'll have another driver in the seat before the end of the day. Telling them you didn't want the job makes you a better person at the end of the day rather than telling them a sleezy lie about it.

I tend to give about as much tact as I receive. I've been accused of leaving a dumper in the air and cussing someone off on a radio. That's when my boss was right behind me and saw my dumper wasn't in the air and I didn't even have a radio in the truck. Respect/Professionalism should work both ways.

I was going to not do this, but after reading post # 33 decided to go ahead. I was scheduled to go to a 3-day orientation in Charlotte about 15 years ago. In fact, it was scheduled to start on that Tuesday and go through that Thursday and by the end of the day, Friday have my assigned tractor and start driving. On that Saturday afternoon before I left a friend of mine called me and asked me about my new job. He was wanting a driver that knew that San Antionio--Dallas area and it was an emergency for him because he was close to losing a good account. I decided to help him out and actually headed out that Sunday and was sitting at the TA near Tallulah La on that Monday morning when I called that carrier and told them I got a better offer. They said OK if I changed my mind, later on, give them a call. This is not hard, it's also not a serious issue.
