Pretty much my assumption... However I do need the experience first before running a truck. Thankfully I have found one company already where I can make this work.

I'm intrigued by your search for a career , from the ground level , before attaining a CDL - and really hope you find something that fits your needs.
I am puzzled by these two comments, they seem mutually exclusive.
As a past husband/wife team, I - and most all on here, can point you to a $200k+ career in trucking. With the exception of your demands on the employer that respects your wishes.
I'm not dumping on your idea. Most of us would have relished in a job that had a mandatory break beyond the 34 hour reset - I'm looking for inspiration in your search.Tribunal, Cherokee65, High Stepper and 1 other person Thank this. -

Why not just go local with a company that works 5 days a week? Almost any of them you could start early enough Friday morning to be done in plenty of time. I’ve been driving 9 years, owned my own truck for about 7 of those, and spent night in my sleeper once in all that time.

To the op, I would tell you that your expectations are not based on reality.
You are hearing all these things from drivers or single truck owners.
this is an industry doesn’t run on the carriers or drivers schedule.
Their time is not cheap.
even as an owner operator, you are at the whims of the customer’s needs, not yours.
you will not get repeat business if you can’t fill their needs, which comes first.
the industry is evolving even more, the work is harder to find, the work is on their time and schedule more often than not.
a lot of work that used to be hurry and pickup the product and take your time is pretty much gone as the norm.
Costs of moving a customer’s product to their customer matters more than your obligation to God.
unreasonable excuses and delays because of your need to have a day off will have them looking somewhere else.
one reason why large carriers can absorb the burden having drivers off is because they saturate the market with excessive amount of drivers, which has led to the situation right now, there are too too many drivers.
This is a business, it doesn’t and never should conform to the needs of the driver.
you will be very lucky to find an owner who can work around your needs but these owners are rare and hard to get hired on by, I only know a hand full who have the work to arrange for your time off.
this is just talking about regional or otr, which brings me to my suggestion, get a 9 to five job with a local company that understands your needs. You won’t be a Super Trucker going across the land and making the big bucks but you will have security and stability, you won’t be sitting on bfe Utah with no work until Friday and you get fired for refusing that.201, Tribunal and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
There is a 7th day trucking company in the Deer Park California area. BUT, last time I heard they wanted 2 years of experience before coming on board.
Tribunal Thanks this.
