I 70 to I 76 to Breezewood PA, relay load.

So that was different. We have traveled through the Tennessee Mountains but they were over fairly quick as you drive-through.

I drove to Breezewood and my wife drove back out. Going up through the corner of West Virginia, and Pennsylvania to Breezewood was a three hour up-and-down experience. It’s summer and it was dry for us so obviously it could be a lot worse…. But still as new drivers it was nerve wracking. Of course, construction never helps calm your nerves when they take away the shoulder with a cement barrier While traveling up & down the grades and curves.

We feel lucky that we were pulling a flatbed In order to do a relay with another driver. Flatbeds Usually give you you so much more visibility. We met up With another driver in Breezewood, Pennsylvania. We gave him our John Deere combine head trailer Headed for the port in Baltimore and he gave us his John Deere excavator trailer that he had just picked up in the port that was headed for Peoria, Illinois.

This seems to be a pretty good use of our time and the drivers time with the Twic card Who has access to the Baltimore port so I bet we’ll see more of this route in our future.

Having Twic is kinda a mixed blessing, I used to have to pull tons of loads from Jacksonville FL and New Orleans ports because I had one, may just take it back to terminal and someone else goes on, and you’d be going back to grab another to yard.
Though not having one used to cost you $150 i’m New orleans port for an TWiC escort to ride in your truck.

You heard very very wrong.... 79-79-68-70 back to breezewood is much longer...it is the hazmat route east... but you don’t go up to Breezewood
Breezewood area hazmat takes a more northern route....
And if you think the Pike is a roller coaster ride.... The hills on 68 are much. Longer

Have you been around long enough to have run out that way before ANY of the National Freeway was built?

    I do not.

Would that have been on the old two lane or the 4 lane that’s there now?

I agree. I had TWIC when I lived in Florida and pulled everything from orange juice to bananas out those ports down there. Frankly, I was pretty happy when mine expired getting in an out of those ports was a PITA even with a TWIC. What's the point of TWIC card if you still have to go into the office and fill out some stupid form. lol
