That video was painful. I was waiting for 5-0 to pull up behind our hero with the bubblegum machine flaring.

However...there were no other vehicles on the road so they weren't holding anyone up and the poor schmuck in the pokie lane has to slow down for every guy that has 2 miles an hour more on the limiter. He will be backing off all day long.

Exactly the point of the video! Don't slow down for drivers who want to pass! 3 days after I made this video FMCSA dropped their Speed Limiter Mandate Proposal.

Yep, adjusting speed, or backing off if you prefer, is part of driving.

It's really not difficult, nor does it cost any significant amount of time.

The less time I spend in close proximity to another vehicle, especially when it's a big truck, the better. I don't mind going to the effort of moving my foot or adjusting the cruise.

If you managed to get beside them, then you are going faster than them over time, and the driver in the slow lane should tap the brakes if your overtake is slow.

But they are not legally obligated to do so.

Some good points made. I've also just jumped off the next exit take a squirt or grab something to eat and let the pack or another truck governed close to my speed get on down the road.

Got stopped on the highway the other day while they were pulling a big truck out of the ditch.

2 lane road in northern Ontario. I was second in line. By the time we got moving there were about 15 vehicles behind me, a mix of 4 wheelers and big trucks. This was about two miles before a 6% grade and I was on the heavy side.

I pulled off just past the scene, let them all by and followed from a distance. At the end of the day it probably cost me 2 minutes but watching the cf ahead as they all tried to get ahead of each other made it time well spent.

To each their own but I'll always make space a priority.
