I tried flatbed out when I first started driving 11 years ago. I didn't mind securing the loads, but that #### tarping is for the birds. But, I'm really, really, really old, pretty slender, pale and not exactly Mr. Muscles.

Of course, I do have a splendid personality. I like to go for walks on the beach (at night), and I like a nice red "wine". I'm also a snappy dresser and when I get my mind set on someone... I mean something, I really like sink my teeth into it.

Hillshire Farms/Tyson-Rochelle where the OP was running dedicated out of. I get the unfortunate opportunity to load out of there, every now and then. Spent 4hrs there, for 9 pallets.

I only did drop and hook there - and very frequently - but it would still take up to two hours to get in and out.
I usually did not care about wasted time because I was on a salary. Also, I live in Rochelle and so, got a lot of home time and even paid home time. Where you live always makes a difference. For me, it was a good job, for that reason. I finally just would not tolerate their low standards and low characters.

Knucklehead, ducnut and mjd4277 Thank this.

I just did a drop and hook out of there a couple of days ago. I was in and out in an hour.

Thanks for the detailed write up, OP. I told myself I'd never haul reefer again, but here I am considering it. 70cpm with a 2500 mile guarantee sounds too good to be true for a company that size, but what do I know. My local outfit is turning into a clown show lately and I have to consider all my options right now.

if a company is that ignorant enough to fire someone because of a mechanical issue on equipment preventing them from legalizing axle weights it proves what scumbags they are. I’ve never been fond of that bunch, and that news story on tv where the KB dispatcher is overheard telling the driver money was more important than the driver trying not to get themselves killed from fatigue spoke volumes.
