7 years. It’s going to take some work. Starting with all air lines, hoses, brake chambers, brakes and tires.

Then move onto gaskets and seals. Basically anything plastic or rubber needs to be replaced before I personally would even consider driving it.

Fuel lines replaced, tanks pumped out.

5 years is a good limit on tires to replace -

All your rubber components start degrading and causing problems - after 5 years or so

I think you have to go to an official school to get a CDL these days. I could be wrong. Good Luck on getting it running.

If it was taken care of properly before storage ie; had a complete pm before being parked, fuel tanks were emptied, etc. I would not be afraid to run it, albeit it will need a bit of tlc before hitting the road, do coolant flush, replace all belts, change out all coolant and heater hoses, do another complete pm, replace all the brake chambers, brand new steer tires for sure, new batteries. Fresh fuel, fire it up, go get an inspection(if it passes) start education on how to drive a truck.

Before February 7, 2022, it was possible to get a CDL license without having to attend school.
However, starting February 7, 2022, the new Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) federal requirements became in effect, therefore getting a CDL for new drivers will require you to pass minimum training standards at a registered school or training provider across the country.

If you’re looking for a career in the truckingindustry, you’ll need a certificate of completion of minimum training standards from a registered truck driving school before doing the CDL exam.

    ELDT Exceptions
    There are exceptions.

    • Those same individuals who are exempted from CDL requirements: military drivers, firefighters and farmers, are also exempted from the ELDT rules.
    • Individuals who got their Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) before February 7, 2022 are exempted from the ELDT requirements.
    • Drivers who were issued a CDL before February 7, 2022 are exempted from ELDT for the previously-issued license or endorsement, even if it has since lapsed.
