Is this normal behavior of a trucking company?

Jungle drums - the above pretty much sums it up ( apart from WRT out of Liberty, MO - they're worse than CRE).

Talk to the boss ( not the underlings ) and address the problem. Tell them you are considering other employers.

Stick it out at least 2 more months. If not a year.

 

Wait wait, 31 cpm as a team? That in itself would have me going elsewhere. Ok, that's wrong. I wouldn't of signed on for that. When your truck is making less money than a solo newbie, something ain't right.

As far as the load goes, no matter what company you drive for, that will happen occasionally. If they make a habit of it, then it's a problem. Dispatchers know who they can, and can't, take advantage of.

You were dead set on Watkins and Shepard from the start, so you may as well work with what you got till 1 year is up.

Do some research - in person. Stop 3 Quest drivers at fuel or wherever. Grill them. Do the same with other TEAM companies. Get the facts from drivers, and not just ones on here.

I know you're keen on a pet friendly company, so ask all those questions too.

Yes - I remember now, and a valid reason. Many spouse teams have the same reservations about this issue. Even harder for 2 new drivers.

I trained my wife after her schooling, and only had a year in myself. I had to pull a LOT of favors to do it, and they had no teams at the time.

Then we went to Freymiller for a year until the LTL lightbulb turned on, and we've been here 7 years.

You'll get it sorted - its frustrating, but its a learning curve no body's path or goals or situation is the same.

Just keep your eyes and MIND open to all options.

Not sure where y'all are from, but we have a few teams here at Holland Enterprises, and it's a very pet friendly company. We are based out of North Dakota, but have a much bigger hiring area. Heck I'm from Texas. I'm about to deliver on a 3000 mile run and pick up a 2800 mile one.

 

ODFL in Atlanta only wants 6 months experience?

 

That doesn't even sound normal there, unless they've changed a lot...

First, you need to learn to say NO...Even as a solo driver, I would have, and have when I worked there, refused that load from them...237 is for locals and the lazy I tell them, not me, I'd rather wait on a better load...

Second, and really first in the process is don't give up the load that easily...Take it up the chain, hopefully to someone you have built a relationship with(this is where that will really come into play)...I remember when I was there, once I had my truck under a load, it was mine, unless it was a D&H to a comparable or more favorable for my current desires...If not, they need a good explanation why I can't stay on the load I have and if I didn't like that I'd ask, who's next in line, I'm taking it up the chain as I kept driving...Usually, If I got Moira involved, it was settled in my favor...I did her favors when she asked, she returned the favors...I found most of dispatch was like that there, could be different world there, it's been 2yrs...
