Last load of the week, 682 mile round trip from the shipper to the receiver to home. Hour and a half to load, hour and 15 to unload. I can turn it, but I gotta keep the hammer down.
Needed fuel, and as some of you know that is the thing I dislike the most about this profession. Pulled into the Pilot in Harrisonburg VA, all pumps were stacked 2 deep, except for one. I pulled into that one, impatiently waiting for the truck with no fuel pumps in the tanks to move. Sat there for 12 mins and I saw the driver get out of the truck, swipe his card and start fueling. I saw red. I opened my door and yelled "YO!!!" holding my hands up in the "WTH!?" signal. He responded with the middle finger.
Still seeing red, I whipped the door open, got out of the truck and called him some severely inappropriate words, the kind that I would get the belt for when I was a kid. After I started yelling, the guy didn't say a word, just kept fueling. I stopped and looked around, everyone was staring at me. With my tail between my legs, I walked back to the truck and accomplished nothing.
Moral of the story is, you're either gonna make yourself look like a complete jack### or you're gonna get yourself into a worse situation than you're already in. Keep a cool head drivers, and don't be like me
I've never lost my patience in public, until now...

While I don't disagree with the moral of the story, I can certainly understand the feeling and the reaction. Fueling is literally the worst part of my day due the boneheads like you encountered.

This is where cardlocks are awesome. Just pumps and no store. No reason to be there other than to get fuel. Never a lineup.

Usually it’s me who gets in trouble.
I’d have laid on the air horn before asking loudly if he’d had a good lunch break at the fuel island and not to worry, maybe in a year or two he’d learn how to back that truck into a parking spot.Flat Earth Trucker, InTooDeep, Another Canadian driver and 6 others Thank this. -

This is why I fuel at the beginning of my day (usually 4-5 am). I'm able to do that about 90% of the time.
Blowing a gasket over fuel island crap is just not in me. Life is too short.homeskillet, Another Canadian driver, jmarc77 and 7 others Thank this. -
FYI sometimes a company driver has to call dispatch to get authorized to buy fuel at a particular location. Swift drivers had to call in if they weren't fueling at their designated stop back when I drove for them. My fuel card literally wouldn't work otherwise.
