I'm just wondering if you started solo for 5 months the went into team operations for a year, would your next potential employer look at team driving as inferior?
We all know each team partner should pull their weight, but know that's not always the case.
Just curious about teams...

Team driving isn't inferior. OTR companies want drivers that have experience driving in all weather, all terrain, mulitple states(the more states the better). Doesn't matter if it's team or solo.
luvtotruck, blairandgretchen and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
Team driving sucks unless it's with a spouse. Even then I'd get annoyed and kick her off ha

It may depend on the average length of haul and nature of cargo.
Most companies hauling fresh (not frozen) with a lengths of haul over 2 drive shifts seem to prefer teams.
Now I personally would question employing anyone who could team drive for a year with a non spouse (or equivalent) or immediate family member. I would be unsure if they could handle driving solo. -
I would think they would ficus on 17 months with one carrier and a clean record. Teaming dies demonstrate tolerance and patience.

Blue_Orge .... Why would it make a difference if it was a spouse or equivalent... If two people.get along and work well together even though they are not married and decide to team for miles...

Thanks for the input

That's the kicker. You have to know and trust the person. When you start dealing with strangers you never know what or who you are going to get. You might get stuck with 3 nightmares before you find someone compatible. Then it would suck to get killed while in the sleeper.
Team pay really doesn't pay much more versus the risks and extra BS you have to put up with. At least solo you can shut down 10 hours and take care of things. When you are always rolling you don't have much time for them other things. It's okay if you want to make a few extra dollars but when you are making a career out of trucking solo is the only way to go.CharlesS, blairandgretchen and crosscut Thank this. -
I started out solo then went to teams and the only reason i did that was that armellini would get you home every week in Florida. You are 100%right your better off running solo unless you have some reason that favors you to run team. Team driving blows! Living with some other dude 24/7 in a shoebox, trying to sleep with the truck bumping down the hwy, just no time to really do anything because if your with a good company your running your ### off. O how I hated it..!blairandgretchen Thanks this.

I tried the team thing once, with a vary good friend of mine, lasted 5 weeks, and kicked him out of the truck! I will never drive team again, we remained friends, but being in a truck with limited space for that long of a period, just looking for disaster, I have seen team drivers fly up to a truck stop, not park, just pull in to the parking area and jump out and start throwing punches, Its the solo life for me
blairandgretchen Thanks this.
