After the year where we got 5 in one season (2 went directly over my county)...my wife and family don't get too shook up about it, especially since my addition is built to zone 1 hurricane standards and we're 90 miles from any major body of water. Heck, it takes a virtual monsoon of a rain storm before we even hear it.

As it stands right now, Wilmington is in the center of the cone of uncertainty.

Yea, and I (we) live 65 miles north of Wilmington and my 83yo mother is 35 miles north of Wilmington.....and she is even MORE hard headed than I am (yea, I know that's almost impossible to believe).

The water lills more people than the wind. It's the flooding that kills more people. I spent 2 weeks immediately after both Hugo and Katrina running relief supplies into the shelters. The flooding caused most of the damage.

I remember that night too. We ended up several trees lighter as well. I could hear some popping and snapping over the wind and rain, but it wasnt until day light we saw just how bad it had been. Our property backed up to crabtree creek and usually even when the creek was high, it was still 80-100 yards away and down hill. The morning after Fran, the water was about 40-50 feet from the back door. We were also 10 days without power.

Looks like inland NC will be spared. This storm is as unpredictable as a drunk driving during an earthquake, on a swaying bridge.

It looks like after it brushes the outer banks, it hangs a hard right out into the Atlantic. Some predict it will loop back towards the Bahamas then take a second shot at FL, others say it's gonna mix it up with another storm that's forming (Nichole) then head who knows where.

Picking up in South Plainfield, NJ now headed for 0330 delivery in Ohio. Then tomorrow start a 4-pick (Aurora, OH; Garretsville, OH; Solon, OH; and Brenen, IN, Friday going to Fargo for Monday. I did a quick search on here & didn't find anything. Anyone have any pointers for this trip - Joey said we do it every week, but a first for me.
