Well I loaded it and took it. Daughter is playing in Birmingham tonight so I took so I could watch her play tonight.

Well, I tried...when I say that, I mean that I tried to see if I could run as hard as the high mile hero @ncmickey. He posted that he had turned a 4k in 8 days after his last hometime...I got close, but no cigar. Last Friday I left CR to Park Rapids...Park Rapids to San Antonio...San Antonio to W. Jefferson OH....W. Jeff to Napoleon....Napoleon to Hopkins, MN...Hopkins to St. Cloud...and St.Cloud to CR (for a trailer tail repair on the drop trailer my load was loaded on. Someone destroyed the lower part of the left wing). In total, just under 4000 (hub/odometer miles, not paid, unfortunately). I had 31 minutes left on my 70... I guess they're trying to make up for my 6600 paid miles from last month. To put it mildly, I am kinda tired. Maybe @Winnyf1 was right, I should have been more proactive about my departure last year...or, this is a goodbye gift. Either way, it does feel good to be tired from running hard instead of being tired from being bored.
I caught myself thinking something odd the other day. I had the typical Napoleon load...grossing 79700...and I came up behind a slightly slower driver. One that could almost pace me on level ground. The thought, "I'll just pass him on the next up-hill".He was driving a Cascadia, and by the looks of his tires, loaded similar to me. But every time we hit a hill, he face-planted and my little Paccar powered put-put mobile would just chug along. I actually had to back way off of him on several hills because of traffic in the left lane that would clear just before the top, and I try not to be that "dang slow truck" holding up the left lane for miles, so I didn't jump out that close to the top. Finally, I got the opening I needed and breezed around him like I was driving a large car. I never thought I would hear myself say "####, this thing is pulling like a freight train"...but it was, and getting 7.7 mpg. Maybe my truck knows I am leaving too and is behaving itself.
Oh wait...did I just say something positive??? (Better mark your calendar, it must be a sign that the end is near)Last edited: Mar 18, 2017
