Speaking of APUs not working... mine tapped out last night. Red triangle and ACS error. In the CR shop right now being accompanied by a PM. Got some new paperwork for my permit book. Load is already picked up, headed to Georgia. Ordered a pizza. Gonna be watching the hockey game in the lounge. Go Preds!

Heck took me 4 years and two or three tries and I now have my x (tank hazmat combined in MI) endorsement. Just gotta get my temporary permit over to Chad.
Got my prpln out the house, picking up in Kzoo and going to Fridley.

Like others have said, the length of haul is shorter...but because the trailers are a little less expensive, a good bit more drop/hook. And naturally, the unload times are longer on reefer loads, especially on the -10 loads...I mean, don't we all move a little slower when it's that cold. Most drivers that claim they won't pull reefer trailers don't want the noise behind them...but honestly, it's as loud sitting beside one as it is sitting in front of one. Plus, with a van there is one less motor to break down and one less tank to fuel. I personally kinda miss it in a way, but I don't miss the unload times...

Joining in on the chorus, I'm sitting at Thermo King in Atlanta getting my APU fixed since the CR shop couldn't fix it Saturday. Unloading about 30 minutes away in the morning. Then pick up a hazmat load going to Texas for some time off.

These APUs sure do seem to require a lot of work. This is the first issue I've had with mine. But overall they seem like a pain spanned across the fleet. I wonder how much Magnum spends on APU maintenance in a year.

Your 20 minutes from my house. That TK is pretty good.

Less than they would on fuel & wear on the engines. I've read APU uses 2/10 gallon of fuel/hr running the AC (much less for the heater) versus 2 gallons/hr idling.

Especially on these new DPF engines where excessive idle time lowers the mileage where the DPF needs to be serviced.

TO needs to make some serious improvements though, the units on the early 15's had engine frames made of AL that might break and now units have a fuse holder issues...sometimes makes me wonder how the Carrier units hold up...

My load from Henderson CO to SLC, Utah and Sumner WA cancelled. But Matt came through with a load from Laramie, WY to Williston ND. Nick is working on a reload for Wednesday.
I sure wasn't upset since that run from CO to Utah would have had to be overnight.... which I don't mind if need be... but I prefer some nice daytime driving.
Got loaded in Laramie WY and took 287n to WY34 to I-25 to WY59.... beautiful, desolate ride.... really enjoyed it.
Sitting in Gillette, WY for my 10...
about 400 miles from Williston ND...

    Zata40 and mattbh23 Thank this.
