I hear ya! I'm not ready to step it back yet though.

I came here basically broke. Just enough money to live on PB&J and canned food to get by until I got my truck.

For any outsiders reading this thread.... if your life sucks right now and you just wanna jump into trucking, you have a strong drive and you're responsible and want to run big miles and turn your life around... that's exactly what Magnum provided for me. Big miles. Big pay rates. Big checks. You just have to know what you want and do what it takes to make it happen. If you can handle tons of miles, Magnum can provide. I am living proof. Makes me feel kinda happy inside when people ask me to provide pay stubs and "proove" I'm making whay I say I make with limited experience. Some people just can't believe it. I know i found the right company!

On a similar note... when you're having a horrible time, it's easy to point out all the bad things that come your way. But on the flip side, when you're having a great time the little annoying or "bad" things don't seem like such a big deal. when things are going good, it's almost hard to find complaints worth mentioning. When you set goals and are accomplishing them, everything else becomes a blur and falls by the wayside. I've been in both positive and negative mind sets. I was never a goal oriented person until I started driving a truck. I was broke. I was hating life. At that point, all I wanted to do was make as much money as I could and forget everything else. Magnum allowed me to do that. No distractions. I wanted miles and money. At first, it was just cut throat... more more more! Then I got a hang of what I could expect. I learned what my limits are. I know im capable of 13k miles or more a month, and i understand what kind of effort it takes. When im in the zone, it feels easy. But when I take a step back to put things into perspective and think about the last month or whatever. .. yes it's a lot of hard work. I just get myself "into the zone", put my blinders on and reach for my daily, weekly, monthly, yearly goals. Don't get sucked into everyone else's opinions and experiences.

Speaking of being in the zone... this went way longer than I expected haha!

You are absolutely correct! When I went through orientation and the performance based pay system was explained, I made the comment about how unreal it was that a brand new driver out of school has the potential to make $.50cpm! Realistically, it'd be more like the lower to mid .40's for the first half year or so and then move up. It'd be hard to beat what Magnum has to offer and it's not that hard to figure out! And, being out with a trainer, the new guy is gal gets all the pointers to making a quick success. Zata, you were a newbie. What kinds of pay were other companies offering once you got away from the trainer and then what kind of training would you have gotten?

Lol...and so it has begun. Have a load going to Newport Cool Storage for Wed morning, called Nick and let him know I need aervice. After that, the obligatory where do you want to go. I don't care, wherever the miles are. He asks, you go west? Getting the feeling I'll be running that way a little more often now...but that's ok...I know the deal!
